Needs a SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
CSCS is a leading Bangalore-based Social Science research organization. At present CSCS works with four servers, two in-house and two remotely operated. In addition to standard mail server functions, the Centre operates two large academic databases, and is increasingly transferring all its academic work onto online platforms.
The Systems Administrator we need has to have proven capacities with command-line use of Linux, preferably with a certificate from Red Hat or Linux Professional Institute (lpi.org), and familiarity with scripting using Bash and Python. The Administrator will be responsible for four servers, two of them dedicated. One is used primarily as internet gateway (including VPN), mail server and web server, and one used to run Zope and Lotus Domino. CSCS also runs two LAN systems, one in the main building and in the library. Routine tasks will include maintenance, rotating log files, checking for vulnerabilities, and applying patches as and when they are available, and LAN firewall management. Additionally, the Administrator will supervise the maintenance of all CSCS Windows-based machines, ensuring network connectivity troubleshooting, anti-virus and spyware detection software maintenance.
Salary commensurate with experience.
